Minneapolis, MN - On Friday, September 8, the Fine Campaign will be hosting a major five hour event at Coffman Union Theater called "Building a Bridge." The purpose of this event is to bring the community together to learn about the issues, to facilitate understanding of opposing views, and to engage in constructive dialogue. The event will be comprised of five one hour forums covering the following topics:
1. Seeking an end to war, genocide, cultural destruction and global poverty
2. Towards an environmentally sustainability world and being prepared for natural disaster
3. Seeking an end to local poverty, racial inequality and crime
4. Engaging opposing views regarding the socially divisive issues of our time including abortion, marriage and the separation of church and state
5. Education, jobs and immigration and their role in building future prosperity for all Americans
Experts will be participating in each of these sessions with audience participation. Alan Fine will be the moderator for the event. Alan will do his best to ensure that there is no partisan focus tainting the nature of the discussion. Alan says, "If we can set aside partisanship and constructively address these serious issues, then positions can be better understood and, hopefully, understanding will be enhanced, a bridge between diverse views may be built, and a path may be created leading towards the emergence of viable solutions to these challenging issues."
There will also be a nine-foot Steinway concert grand on stage and Alan may perform as well. J The Coffman Union Theater is on the first floor of Coffman Union at the University of Minnesota.
This event is free and the public is welcomed and encouraged to attend and participate. That includes Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, Greens and those who are not sure where they would affiliate. The press is welcome and there will be a special press booth set aside at this event.
